Swords Compete in 32nd Annual Willamette Invitational

Salem, OR- Lisa Castle and Toby Castro led the Chaminade Women's and Men's Cross Country teams respectively in the prestigious 32nd annual Willamette Invitational.

Castro led the Chaminade men with a time of 27:48 in the 8K event, which was good for a top 200 finish. Keiichi Matsumoto finished 205th with a time of 28:02. The Swords finished 31st overall as a team. Concordia University of California won the men's team event, while Aron Rono of Azusa Pacific won individual honors with a time of 23:43.

Lisa Castle led the Chaminade women, placing 97th overall with a time of 19:44 in the 5K event. Deanne Soon, less than a minute behind at 20:33, finished in 169th place. The Chaminade women placed 30th overall, just ahead of PacWest conference rival, Notre Dame de Namur. Sarah Zerzan of Willamette won individual honors with a time of 17:11 and Concordia University of California swept the team honors winning on the women's side as well.

The Chaminade harriers are back in action on October 14th at the HPU Invitational in Kaneohe, HI. The women's 6K follows the men's 10K which starts at 7:00AM.
