Kaneohe, HI- Deanne Soon led the way for the Chaminade Women's Cross Country team yesterday with a 16th place finish in the 5k HPU Invitational with a time of 21:34. On the men's side Tyler Pickle finished in 17th place in the 8k event, with a 29:56.
Individually, the women's 5k was by CHantelle Wilder of UH-Manoa with a 18:51, while BYU-Hawaii's Amanda Whitford was the top DII finisher at 19:20. CUH's Joelle Tanaka placed 25th with a 23:22. The UH-Hilo women took the team title with 46 points.
On the men's side, BYU-Hawaii's Golden Harper won the race with a time of 26:40 in the 8k event. Besides Pickle, the Swords next best finisher was Toby Castro in 18th place with a 30:31. HPU won the team event with 37 points.
The Swords are back in action next week at UH-Hilo. The meet starts at 7:30 am.
