CUH WVB: Swords Fall to Ft. Lewis in Four in Season Opener

Golden, CO-The Swords fell in a non-conference battle with Ft. Lewis this morning in four sets (25-21, 16-25, 17-25, and 17-25) in the 2010 Oredigger Volleyball Classic.   
 
The Swords came out ready to go, winning the first set 25-21 on a kill by junior Allie Board (Redwood City, CA/Notre Dame).
 
Sophomore Kylee Pedro (Honolulu, HI/Mid-Pacific) added 9 kills in defeat for the Swords.
 
Junior setter Tanya Alvino (Brentwood, CA/Liberty) was steady throughout the match contributing 25 assists and 13 digs for CUH. Sophomore Whitney Viveiros (Hilo, HI/Kamehameha-Kapalama) was unable to compete due to a previous injury.   
 
Junior Kristy Inamasu (Kahului, HI/Maui) led Chaminade with 21 digs. The Swords lost the overall dig battle 75-85. Ft. Lewis won the battle of hitting percentage .222 to .069.    
 
The Skyhawks were led by Taylor Hillberry with 13 kills and 3 total blocks. 
 
With the loss, Chaminade drops to 0-1. Ft. Lewis moves to 1-0. The Swords are back in action this afternoon against Colorado School of Mines at 3:30 PM MT.
