Honolulu, HI- The Silverswords put together a complete ninety minutes this afternoon, defeating the Pioneers of Cal State East Bay by a score of 3-0.
The Silverswords got the scoring going in the 39th minute with a goal from sophomore Jon Fukumoto (Mililani, HI/Mililani) to take a 1-0 lead into the break.
Two second half Chaminade goals, one by Michael Marrs (Wailuku, HI/Baldwin) in the 58th minute and another by freshman defender Jordan Kitabayashi (Waimea, HI/Waimea) in the 88th minute sealed the shutout victory. Marrs finished with one goal and one assist on the match.
Freshman goalkeeper Hayes Sperry (Gulfbreeze, FL/Gulfbreeze) stopped ten shots while recording an impressive shutout. The Swords were out-shot 21-8.
With the win, Chaminade moves to 1-1. Cal State East Bay falls to 1-2. Chaminade is set to play HPU on September 16th on St. Louis Field. Kickoff is set for 10:00 AM HT.
