Waipahu, HI- The Swords Cross Country team hosted the Chaminade Invitational this morning at Central Oahu Regional Park.
The Sword men were led by an impressive finish by freshman Nathan Williams (Las Vegas, NV/Oak Ridge) who ran the 8K in 27:10 to finish 10th. Freshman Emmanuel Jimenez (Palmdale, CA/Highland) was the second-best Chaminade runner, placing 17th with a time of 28:21. BYU-Hawaii's Thomas Puzey won the individual title with a time of 25:54.
On the women's side, Silversword freshman Shannon Whener (Kihei, HI/Maui) was the highest Chaminade finisher. Whener finished 18th with a 20:21 in the 5K event. Senior Ashlie Salas-Selem (Kapolei, HI/Kapolei) finished 24th with a time of 21:03. HPU's Frida Aspnaes won the event with a time of 18:31.
The Swords are back in action on the UH-Hilo campus on October 9th for the UH-Hilo Invitational. The race is set to start at 9 AM HT.
