Laie, HI- Lisa Castle led the way for the Chaminade Silverswords at the BYU-Hawaii Cross Country Invitational, finishing in seventh place in the 5k with a time of 20:13 and just four seconds from a top five finish.
On the women's side, Chaminade finished in fourth place, just sixteen points behind third place HPU. Deanne Soon finished in eleventh place overall with a time of 21:04. Chantelle Laan won the race for Hawaii with a time of 18:37. Hawaii also won the team title with a score of 31 points.
On the men's side, BYU-Hawaii took the team title with a score of 27, while HPU had the top two runners, including the 8k winner, Todd Iacovelli, who ran a 25:48. Chaminade's top male finisher was Keiichi Matsumoto, with a time of 29:06. As a team, Chaminade finished third.
The Silversword harriers head to the mainland next weekend and the prestigous Willamette Invitational at Bush Pasture Park in Salem, Oregon. The women will run a 5k starting at 10:45 AM with the men to follow with a 8k at 11:45 AM.
