Honolulu, HI- Chaminade took a tough defeat tonight, falling in three games (21-25, 21-25, 19-25) to HPU in front of a raucous crowd at McCabe Gym. HPU took a close first game (19-20, late in the game) and used the momentum of the first game win to defeat the Swords.
Trina Kauliakamoa was solid for Chaminade, leading the Swords with 11 kills to go along with 14 digs.
Vanja Radanovic was tough at the net, leading CUH with 5 solo blocks.
Tanya Alvino had 23 assists to go along with 6 digs. Chauntelle Maduli added 15 digs in defeat.
Offensively, HPU out-hit Chaminade .163 to .067. HPU led in digs, 76-64.
The SeaWarriors were led by Julia Gruszecka with 12 kills.
With the defeat, Chaminade moves to 9-10 on the year. With the win, HPU moves to 6-10.
The Lady Swords now head to Laie, HI on October 17th to face BYU-Hawaii. First serve is set for 7PM at Cannon Center.
