PHOENIX, AZ – Chaminade’s Matt Cousins (Santa Rosa, CA/Cardinal Newman) was honored for his efforts this past week on a three game road trip in Northern California. Cousins averaged 17.3 points and 8.3 rebounds while shooting 73.1% (19 for 26) from the floor in a 2-1 week for the Silverswords.  In last week’s honor roll, Chaminade freshman guard, Dominique Cooks, was honored by the conference office. 

 BYU-Hawaii senior forward/center Lucas Alves (Casa Branca, Brazil/Colegio Avanqo Ensino Progranado) has been selected the Pacific West Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. The award was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, March 8, for games contested March 1-7.

Alves led the Seasiders to a 3-0 week in the San Francisco Bay area and helped the club extend its winning streak to 12 straight games by averaging 21.0 points and 6.3 rebounds per contest. He ranked second in scoring for the week in the PacWest and ranked eighth in shooting after making 62.2% (23 for 37) of his shots from the field. He also ranked fourth in foul shooting after converting 16 of 18 (88.9%) opportunities.

Matt Cousins - Chaminade (So., 6-8, 215, F, Santa Rosa, CA/Cardinal Newman)...averaged 17.3 points and 8.3 rebounds while shooting 73.1% (19 for 26) from the floor in a 2-1 week for the Silverswords...ranked fifth in scoring and rebounding, and first in shooting for the week in the PacWest.

T.J. Benson - Grand Canyon (Sr., 6-0, 170, G, Tempe, AZ/Corona del Sol)...led the Antelopes to a 2-0 week and a surge to .500 as GCU ended the year 16-16...averaged 15.0 points and 3.5 assists per game...ranked eighth in scoring and tied for sixth in assist average for the week in the PacWest...made 9 of 12 (75.0%) free throw attempts...hit five three-pointers.

Brad Carroll - Grand Canyon (Fr., 6-5, N/A, G, Chandler, AZ/Corona del Sol)...led the Antelopes to a 2-0 week that helped GCU finish the year at .500 (16-16)...averaged 13.0 points and 4.5 assists per game...ranked fourth in assist average for the week in the conference...was perfect at the foul line (8 for 8)...ranked fourth in assist/turnover ratio (3.0) for the week.

Tsung-Hsien Chang - BYU-Hawaii (So., 6-4, 190, G, Yilan, Taiwan/Sing Rong)...helped guide the Seasiders to a 3-0 week in the San Francisco Bay area by averaging 18.0 points...ranked fourth in scoring for the week in the PacWest...shot 57.1% (20 for 35) from the field.

Alastair Flack - Dominican (CA) (Sr., 6-0, 175, G, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia/Mentone Grammar)...ranked ninth in scoring average (14.0), tied for sixth in assists per contest (3.5), and ranked third in steals per game (3.0) in a 1-1 week for the Penguins...tied for fifth in foul shooting (87.5%) for the week after making 7 of 8 attempts.

C.J. Jackson - Hawai‘i Pacific (Sr., 6-8, 265, F, Buena Vista, GA/Tri-County)...averaged 17.0 points and 13.0 rebounds per game over two contests for the Sea Warriors - despite an 0-2 week...also shot 65.2% (15 for 23) for the week...ranked sixth in shooting and scoring, and first in rebounding in the PacWest for the week...tied for second in blocks per game (1.5)...also averaged 1.5 steals per contest.

Xander McNally - Dominican (CA) (So., 6-2, 175, G, San Francisco, CA/The Branson School)...led the Penguins to a 1-1 week by averaging 13.5 points and shooting 61.1% (11 for 18) from the field...ranked ninth in shooting and tied for 11th in scoring for the week in the PacWest...also averaged 2.0 steals per game and made 2 of 5 three-point attempts (40.0%)...tied for second in assist/turnover ratio (3.3).

Gaby Ngoundjo - Grand Canyon (Jr., 6-8, N/A, F, Little Rock, AR/Christian)...averaged 10.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week for the Antelopes...was perfect from the foul line (11 for 11)...ranked fourth in rebounding for the week...tied for second in blocks per game (1.5).

Zach Robbins - Dixie State (Fr., 6-9, 210, F/C, Upland, CA/Upland)...averaged a double-double for the Red Storm in a 2-0 week...helped Dixie State earn a share of its first PacWest title...averaged 12.0 rebounds and 11.5 points per game...ranked second in rebounding for the week in the PacWest...also led the league in blocked shots per game (3.5).

Tom Whitehead - Dixie State (Jr., 6-6, 185, F, St. George, UT/Dixie)...led the Red Storm to a 2-0 week and a share of its first PacWest Championship...averaged 19.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game while shooting 42.9% (6 for 14) from beyond the arc...ranked ninth in three-point shooting and third in scoring for the week in the PacWest.
